The opening of the 3d "Eurovillage 2015" was hosted in Azerbaijan's Baku on Sept. 19, and was attended by the ambassadors of several EU countries. The European Union's event, which took place in Baku's Icheri Sheher, intended to introduce European traditions and culture for Baku residents. The British Council invited the high octane Celtic dance band Peatbog Faeries to play at the EuroVillage in Baku. Peatbog Faeries closed the concert and took the old city by storm. The band’s blend of traditional folk elements, including bagpipes, with more contemporary dance beats got the crowd dancing and won them many admirers in Baku.
Peatbog Faeries are Peter Morrison (pipes and whistles), Ross Couper (fiddle), Tom Salter (guitar), Innes Hutton (bass, percussion) Graeme Stafford (keyboards) and Stuart Haikney (drums). The band hails from the Isle of Skye and in 2012 were nominated for "Best Live Act" at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, having already twice won "Live Act of the Year" at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards.
